Buroughs , 2021

My first trip to New York City as an adult was immediately overwhelming. Childhood memories of the city only constituted vague images on an opaque map. To better understand the endlessly diverse geography of the city, as well as explore the unique visual character of every region, I undertook a full day’s walk across each of the five boroughs. With every ramble, I steadily realized that each borough is a world unto itself. Through these photographs I began to place these disparate localities into an image of one city, constructing a new map built from pictures of light and color.
